The Transformers TV series now has a storyarc that runs across four issues, starting in November 2012 and ending in March 2013. Fans who'd always assumed the story would continue directly onto the recent movie might be a little upset by this and the companion comic. The TV script takes place directly before the movie, and in a manner that's slightly problematic. Like the recent movie, we get into a battle in London, with two factions opposed to Optimus Prime's leadership, before Optimus and Bumblebee resolve it. The problem is, the comic up to the movie has a distinct lack of those factions, and it's very strongly implied that the Decepticons, or some powerful splinter faction of them, was simply never going to be a thing. The TV movie's premise is so focused on the Autobots and the Decepticons that it's hard to see how they could have resolved things so quickly - but the TV movie's team has been working harder than the comic has. So we've got a new, more-focused version of that story arc, as well as a new version of the same story arc found in the comics, and that's going to be on TV for the next few weeks. This is going to be quite a coincidence...
Every final image in the movie shows a transformation sequence, but Equestria Girls The Movie moves through the movie's timeline in a more linear fashion (i.e. isn't jumping years). We were already aware of this for the TV movie in the comics, but seeing the movie made it clear that this was the case as well. With all that said, the movie's final image is Bumblebee and company racing across London to get to Starscream, while the rest of the Autobots are waiting in the casino. Starcream's fate is left open-ended, and this is the most logical place for him to go. Still, this could be seen as a risky move - even if he wins, his faction will certainly be weakened in the long term. There's also the off chance that he's not responsible for the action (with the Decepticons doing the bulk of the crime) and so he could wake up and be caught. The ending gives us some sense of an interesting new direction for the franchise, though... 3d9ccd7d82
